Painted Barriers

Barrier Painting - 36.jpg

With support from the Needham Council for Arts and Culture, the Town of Needham, and the Needham Community Revitalization Trust Fund, I facilitated a community painting project to add some color and whimsy to outdoor dining at Sweet Basil restaurant in Needham Center. The painted barriers flow through the diverse styles of four artists from Gorse Mill Studios (me, Dina Troen-Krasnow, John Judge, and Nicole Donson) and offer a dynamic brightness to the landscape in an attempt to attract more diners to support eating out at local restaurants. It was amazing to paint outside with people and I couldn’t help turn it into a community project by engaging passersby to pick up a brush and join us. Participants ranged from an 18 month old and her mom to Officer Brian who was on detail protecting us and many many more! Special shout out to Charly, Amy, and Heather, for spearheading this town effort and to Patty from Sherwin Williams for donating all of the paint and supplies.

Our painted barriers were highlighted on the Needham Channel News.
