Paintings on Found Wood 2018 - 2025

Below are my more recent works, painted in my new studio after having been on a painting hiatus for a few years; first- when my kids were young, and second - during the pandemic. Some of the work employs a layering technique in which I designed and created my own stencils to add imagery inspired by nature into the pieces of wood to help tell a seasonal story and share the metaphors of all that nature gifts us. You can also view the work in context of the exhibit in which they were presented, Translations: a chain of painting, poetry, mosaic, and assemblage. Continued inspiration from nature led to a series in 2025 specifically focusing water and wood including an experimentation with suminagashi techniques directly on wood.
