Tova Speter

Welcome

Art has always offered me an opportunity for connection. Whether it is connecting with my own creative expression by painting in my studio, connecting with others by leading art workshops, helping facilitate creative connections by consulting with schools & organizations, or supporting a client’s personal connection and self-exploration by working as an art therapist - all of my work is based on my belief that engaging in art-making is inherently therapeutic and formative.

In my own work I paint on scrap wood to highlight the often overlooked beauty that will shine through when the time is taken to shift to a new perspective. In my work with others I strive to provide “perspective-shifting” opportunities for individuals and groups to find the beauty, talent, and pride they may not yet be aware that they possess.

Artwork

My artwork includes a variety of modalities as I facilitate creative art experiences for a range of constituencies. While my own work involves painting on found wood, and Suminagashi/Zentangle mini meditations; I also lead community mural projects and community art workshops, and have engaged in various other public art creations. Stemming from the recent years of the pandemic, I launched a series of online art experiences called Translations to help others create artwork as a way to connect with others.
